Demystifying Mobile and Wireless Technologies

Nyaki's picture

Who said women cannot be empowered to set up their own wireless networks? Who knew that a can of peaches, that women often use to make peach melba, could be turned into a cantenna ready for transmission? Who thought that bulk smses for advocacy could be sent so easily through Frontline sms and clickatell.com? Who came to realize that they are under-utilizing their mobile phones? Who learnt what Linguicide means? Who sat in the Mobile and Wireless track? This has been a memorable training albeit short, we hungered for more but the challenge rests squarely on our shoulders. The secret for perfecting the art of what we learnt is ‘learning by doing’, I challenge all participants on this track to demystify these technologies by perfecting what we learnt and actually teaching other women who were not able to attend. The multiplier effect will empower more women. As for the trainers: Cheekay, Lillian, Fatima and Brenda…...a cup of wonderful Kenya tea in Nairobi perhaps? You were gems!
