Day two of the AWID Forum

What a match, what an effort…I call it a radical and dynamic movement. I am in love with the spirit of the movement…

I am really tired, just came back from the One in Nine campaign match, we went through town from the CT International Conversion center to the Provincial Administrator to deliver a memorandum to the premier of the Western Cape, Lynn Brown.

The campaign stands in solidarity with women who speak out against gender based violence, it was born in 2006 during the Jacob Zuma trial. I have witnessed the power of collective voice, yes the system has its own way of ‘eradicating’ the situation women are in…very slow! but the effort (1 in 9) has encouraged many more women to come forward and voice out all the issues that have been shut down for a very long time.

Today, was another day where women from the AWID Forum and those that were mobilised, stood up and matched in town for change and a better position for women in all levels and places.

Another world free of violence, exclusion and discrimination is possible through collective voices and efforts. In solidarity with women who speak out.
